Practically, What is disciple-making
Discussion/Prayer
- What is a disciple? Try giving non biblical examples.
Read Mark 1:17-18 , Matthew 28:18-20
- What do these two passages tell us about what it means to be a disciple?
- What do the passages tell us about how disciples relate to Jesus?
- What do the passages tell us about what Jesus wants us to do?
- What do the passages tell us about how to make disciples?
“Discipling is an intentional relationship in which we walk alongside other disciples in order to encourage, equip and challenge one another in love to grow toward maturity in Christ. This includes equipping the disciple to teach others as well.” -Greg Ogden, Transforming Discipleship
Read Luke 9:23
- How does the above definition of discipleship clarify what discipleship is?
- What questions or issues do you have with the above definition of discipleship or Luke 9:23?
Read Genesis 1:26-28
- What are the similarities between God’s command to Adam and Eve and Jesus command to his disciples?
- What fears, doubts, or excuses keep you from obeying God’s command to multiply?
- How does knowing that God is with you(Mt 28:20), has given you His authority(Mt 28:18, Gen 1:28), and everything you need to obey Him (Gen 1:29; Jn 14:16-17, 16:7-14) affect the way you view the task of discipleship?
Individual Challenge:(Through the whole study)
- Ask God to teach you how to trust and obey Him
- Ask God to reveal 1-2 people you can influence
- Ask God to give you boldness to invite those people into a discipleship relationship
